Rejected by the HR in the best way in 2020
This is about my recent job application that was rejected by Gameloft, in the best possible way :)
I will keep this short and hope some HR people see this and maybe reconsider their approach on rejecting candidates.
I applied for a position of Junior Game Designer at Gameloft Vietnam. A few days gone past and a recruiter from the company contacted me on linkedin. She chatted with me regarding the country i am staying at, and told me because of Covid and the restrictions of hiring forigners from overseas.
Linkedin Post
I shared my experince with her on a small linkedin post, and man i had a sudden outpour of comments, contact requests and private messages regarding this.
A lot from the people who share the same green half circle on their Linkedin Profile picture.
All looking for work and have similar experiences or want to experience that rather than automated emails!
I have applied for Gameloft Canada before, this year on SmartRecruiters, and naturaly i had the automated Rejection letter, same with a lot of other companies in 2020.
An automated rejection letter in a series of automated rejection letters. It is what it is but… it is DEHUMANIZING, specially since everyone are in deep distress this year.
A few companies have shown genuin care for their candidates even in the case of rejection. Tigerspike, Netflix, VaynerMedia and Gameloft are a few of the companies i have had great experience with. I have asked for advices and discussed opportunities and they have replied, in some cases more than i expected.
In fact, any candidate will keep them in mind for possible jobs, just for those few kind words that were exchanged.
The 3 minute of their time to make the candidate feel more than a 0 and 1 on screen goes a long way for the candidate. And the candidates will not forget that.
Dear Recruiters, please keep this in mind.
